PPS Musicians To Participate in MAMM SLAM

This is the image for the news article titled PPS Musicians To Participate in MAMM SLAMBands featuring musicians from Portland, Deering and Casco Bay high schools have been selected as participants to compete in the 2016 MAMM SLAM.

The event is put on by the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM), located in Portland, and is sponsored by a variety of local businesses and organizations.

Winners of the 2016 MAMM SLAM have a chance at winning $1,000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Music Fund, along with coveted recording time, radio appearances, plum gigs, a tour of Gateway Mastering, and college scholarships to the Maine College of Art (MECA) of up to $16,000 per year to each member of the winning band.

The preliminary round will be held on Saturday, April 9, at Bayside Bowl at 58 Alder St. in Portland. Doors open at 1 p.m. and tickets cost $12, although if you know band members, they have $2 off coupons for the show.

• Fading Dawn  (Camden Hills Regional & Oceanside East High Schools)
• Port City Rockers  (Portland & Deering High Schools)
• Psycho Brahe  (Windham High School)
• The Rubber Band  (Windham High School)
• Septus  (Scarborough High School, Scarborough Middle School)
• Liam Swift  (Casco Bay High School)
• The Values  (Messalonskee High School)
• Work In Progress  (Cape Elizabeth & Scarborough High Schools)
• Yard Sail  (Thornton Academy, Casco Bay & Cheverus High Schools)
• David Young  (Windham High School)
