This is the image for the news article titled Presumpscot Fourth-Graders Battle Coastal ErosionPresumpscot Elementary School fourth-graders have created brochures that summer visitors to Maine can use to learn how to lessen coastal erosion. Students will be sharing their brochures and presenting their research about erosion to parents and invited guests at The Ecology School in Saco on Thursday, June 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The students have been learning about geology, with a focus on coastal erosion at Camp Ellis. They have researched the causes, effects, and possible solutions of erosion in this area.

Students engaged in field study work at The Ecology School. They also furthered their geologic knowledge with a ranger-guided field study at Bradbury Mountain.
They will have copies of their brochures available for businesses to take and distribute.

Presumpscot Elementary School is in the EL Education (formerly Expeditionary Learning) network, and Presumpscot students participate in project-based learning expeditions. Thursday’s presentation of learning is the culminating event of the fourth-graders’ Coastal Erosion of Saco Bay Expedition.
