The Portland Public Schools is inviting the community to a public meeting regarding the planned replacement of Hall Elementary School. The meeting will be in the Hall School gym on Tuesday, Sept. 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Child care for elementary-school-age children will be provided.

The project architect, Oak Point Associates, will be presenting site plans and preliminary concept plans for the proposed new Portland Public Schools’ elementary school to be built on the current Hall School site.

After the presentation, there will be a straw poll. The straw poll is non-binding and conducted to advise the state regarding local support for the project site.

The Portland Public Schools, with support from the public and the Portland Board of Public Education, plans to seek State Board of Education approval for the site in October 2015.

Aging Fred P. Hall Elementary School, located at 23 Orono Road, is eligible to receive state funding. The City Council has appointed the Hall School Building Committee to oversee the design and construction of a replacement school, estimated to cost about $20 million.
