Original student designs, senior collections, and music and dance performances all will be featured when the Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS) presents its 24th Annual Fashion Show, “Collection 2015.”

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Portland Public Library’s Rines Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a silent auction. Complimentary refreshments will be served. Tickets are $5.

Twenty students from the PATHS Fashion Marketing program will be contributing to the fashion show. The show is an exhibition of the fashion students’ work over the past year.

“What makes this show different is the senior collections,” said Jane Krasnow, PATHS Fashion Marketing instructor. “This year there are three seniors working on collections of clothing – like on Project Runway, where they show a range of their aesthetic.”

One of the collections is by a Casco Bay High School senior, whose fall collection is based on elegance, luxe and faux fur. She has 20 pieces in the show, many of which will be modeled by students and staff from that school, including CBHS Principal Derek Pierce, Krasnow said.

Another collection is by a PATHS senior whose sending schools is Windham High School. His collection is called “From the Hood to the Hills” and “shows a melding of his roots in the city and the hip hop culture with the Maine woods,” Krasnow said. He has nine looks premiering on the runway, she said.

Another PATHS senior, whose sending school is Bonney Eagle High School, has a small collection of five outfits. “His style is all-out, over-the-top glam and glitz,” Krasnow said. “He has another solo collection at his sending school next month also – an outrageous treat.”

Erin Ovalle, morning anchor from WMTW Channel 8, will be the special guest commentator at the show. Dance performances will feature the PATHS Arts Academy Dancers.

Proceeds from the show will go toward student scholarships and tools of the trade for the program. Some proceeds also will go to the ALS Association Northern New England Chapter. The mother of a former PATHS fashion student died in December of ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
