To celebrate the grand opening of its new AC Hotel Portland Downtown Waterfront, Norwich Partners has given a $3,500 grant to Rippleffect that will benefit King Middle School students. The donation from the owner group of the Fore Street hotel to Rippleffect will support the expansion of the school-based Rippleffect Outdoor Leadership Education program (ROLE), serving students at King.

Rippleffect is a Portland-based youth development organization whose adventure and wilderness experience programs reach underserved children in Maine, building confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills.

“This spur-of-the-moment grant from our new business neighbors at the AC Hotel Portland Downtown Waterfront gives us the ability to begin a life-changing ‘ripple effect’ for many King students who would otherwise never get to experience the challenge, the joy, and the life-lessons that come with time spent in the wilderness and waters of Maine,” said Rippleffect Executive Director Adam Shepherd.

Norwich Partners philanthropy, through the Children’s Fund of the Upper Valley, focuses on building fitness, self-esteem and teamwork in underserved youth.

“We shared this Norwich Partners grant with Rippleffect because they give Portland youngsters an outdoor learning experience and share our gratitude for the abundance of outdoor activities in and around Casco Bay,” said General Manager Jeff Lidinsky. “Everyone involved in the opening and management of the AC Hotel Portland Downtown Waterfront has a strong commitment to giving back to the Portland community, which has warmly welcomed us.”
