The artwork of Portland Public Schools high school students will be among the creative work on display in April at the 4th Annual Regional High School Art Show, hosted by Casco Bay Artisans, a Portland art gallery. The show is produced and curated by students.

The opening reception will take place at the gallery, located at 68 Commercial St., the Maine Wharf, on Friday, April 5, during the city’s First Friday Art Walk. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The show, which runs through April 10, will feature the work of 11 regional high schools, including Portland, Deering and Casco Bay high schools and the Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS).

Two Portland High School juniors, Leo Fuller and Lucy Kilbreth, have been working as student interns at the gallery to help curate the show. Their artwork also will be on display. The show is an opportunity for high school students to show and sell their artwork in an art gallery.

At the April 5 opening, Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling is expected to be in attendance, as well as representatives from the offices of senators Angus King and Susan Collins, in support of the quality art programs offered by Maine schools.
