ENROLLMENT & FACILITY STUDY (EFS) COMMISSION
The first EFS Commission meeting was held on October 29. You can access the packets of informational meeting materials for this meeting and all upcoming meetings here: EFS COMMISSION MATERIALS.

BACKGROUND

The Portland Public Schools is undertaking an Enrollment and Facility Study to evaluate the most effective and efficient use of our school buildings. A Board Resolution that outlines the study's rationale and its scope was adopted by the Portland Board of Public Education on May 15, 2018. The Resolution directed the Superintendent to hire an independent consultant to lead the study. To view the resolution, please click on this link: BOARD RESOLUTION.

On August 21, 2018 and September 4, 2018, the Portland Board of Public Education held a workshop and a public hearing about this planned study. At these meetings, a PowerPoint presentation was made to the Board by Superintendent Xavier Botana. You can access the PowerPoint slides here: PRESENTATION. You can also view the recorded September 4th Board workshop and public hearing here: BOARD WORKSHOP.

To gather input from the public, a Community Survey was sent out and public forums were held in different Portland neighborhoods. A Commission has been formed to review the district's current and projected enrollment and programming against existing facility and all the data gathered from the public. The goal of the Commission is to identify and recommend possible efficiencies to the Portland Board of Public Education.
