Deering Pride

We have always known that Deering High is full of the best and brightest high school students in Maine, and to share our pride we recently compiled a list of successes by Deering High, our students and alumni.  Please check out these incredible Ram achievements:

• Deering is the only Portland school to have a US Congressman as an alumnus.
• Deering has won the Turkey Bowl game for 8 of the last 9 years.
• A Deering alumna was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress in 2010.
• We currently have 4 National Merit Scholarship students.
• Over 70% of Deering students taking Advanced Placement classes earn grades that enable them to receive college credit.
• Deering sports teams have won 23 State titles in the decade 2000 – 2009.
• In recent years Deering students have taken service learning trips to Ecuador, Peru and Guatemala
• Deering Students were recently profiled in the Forecaster for their work with Habitat for Humanity.
• We have Forensic Science and Street Law classes.
• Deering Coaching is a program where each student connects with a teacher who will work towards that student’s success through all 4 years at Deering.
• Deering offers Computer Programming and AP Computer Science.
•  A current Deering student earned the title of 2010-11 Miss Teen Maine.
• A current student earned the title of 2010 SMAA Student Athlete of the Year.
• We currently have 1022 students enrolled.
• A current student earned the title best clarinet player in Maine, and was selected for the All Eastern Orchestra.
