The Portland Public Schools’ Multilingual & Multicultural Center has received an $8,000 grant from the Edward H. Daveis Benevolent Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. The grant will be used to guide students in grades 8-12 in building strong academic profiles for college admission through the center’s cornerstone extended learning program, Make It Happen! Make It Happen! is a college readiness program for multilingual students.
The Multilingual & Multicultural Center is responsible for empowering every learner to make a difference in the world by ensuring proficiency in English and other world languages and deepening students' appreciation and understanding of their own cultural identity as well as the cultural identity of others.
