Thorough Environmental Cleanup Underway at Hall School
Facilities staff from the city of Portland and the Portland Public Schools are working with environmental consultants to complete a thorough cleanup of Hall Elementary School after an electrical fire on September 17.
Trained professionals are containing any potential environmental hazards. The building’s air quality will be tested by RPF Associates. Hall School will open to students, teachers and staff only after tests show that the building is safe for occupancy.
“Our top priority is ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” said Portland Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk.
Classes have been cancelled through September 21. The district is planning to reopen Hall School on September 24.
