Riverton Elementary School recently held a Partnership Harvest Lunch to celebrate the school’s gardening program.

The program was awarded a $10,000 grant from the John T. Gorman Foundation.  Attendees at the lunch included Nicole Weatherbee, a foundation representative, Portland Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk and representatives from Cultivating Communities, Portland Trails, the Portland Public Schools’ Central Office, Riverton School and the Riverton Parent Teacher Organization.

The lunch, made by a Riverton fifth grade teacher, featured vegetables harvested from the garden.  Students involved in the Riverton gardening program helped serve and gave presentations about their activities.
