Hall School Has No Classes through Friday
There will be no classes for Hall Elementary School students through September 21 due to damage from an electrical fire.
Clean-up and repair work is proceeding well. The district is preparing to resume classes at Hall on September 24 using all but the three rooms that sustained the most damage. Students will not need to make up the five missed school days.
Community organizations are helping to provide additional child-care for Hall students this week. The Portland Recreation Department is offering full-day care (from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) for about 85 Hall students who are currently registered for its before and after care program. That care is being provided at Riverton School and Community Center. Parents are responsible for providing their own transportation to Riverton. Please call the city's hotline at 756-8130 for more information.
“We appreciate the tremendous effort made by city staff, teachers, administrators and our facilities department to return Hall School to use as soon as possible,” said Portland Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk. “We also appreciate the outpouring of support from area residents and the efforts of our community partners to provide additional child-care.”
