The Deering High School Key Club is collecting used children’s books in good condition for students in the Portland Public Schools to practice their reading at home.

Books will be collected on October 24 through 26 during Deering’s parent-teacher-student conferences.  Books may be left either at a table in the school’s lobby or in the Deering library on October 24 between 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on October 25 and 26 between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The books will be distributed to elementary school students learning English and others who would benefit from reading practice at home.
